Neste livro que convida o leitor a questionar-se sobre as decisões cotidianas que tem vindo a tomar face a inerentes possibilidades de estilos de vida bem como a compreender a importância da saúde mental além do típico "está tudo bem", apresenta-nos a vida da nossa protagonista - Nora Seed - quando decide terminar com a própria vida.

As she stared now at the magazine cover - an image of a black hole - she realized that's what she was. A black hole. A dying star, collapsing in on itself.

No entanto, não foi uma tragédia que levou Nora a ter consciência da sua vontade de morrer, mas foram vários arrependimentos que a conduziram ao estado de saúde debilitado tal como a encontrámos. Desde a vontade de desistir da natação, a saber que o seu faleceu de um ataque cardíaco; a sair da banda de música que fundou com o seu irmão e o respetivo melhor amigo deste; a terminar o seu noivado; a recusar viajar com a sua melhor amiga; a negar um convite para sair; a ser-lhe negado a hipótese de manter o emprego que tinha até ao facto de o seu velho vizinho não precisar mais da sua ajuda e claro, ao facto de o seu gato morrer.
