Adquiri este exemplar em Inglês pela Bertrand e tenho a dizer que é uma escrita bastante acessível e os capítulos não muito longos o que torna uma leitura muito mais fluente e menos forçada.
Life is the thing you bring with you inside your own head.
No início da história acompanhamos a vida de Marianne e Connell, dois adolescentes que se envolvem, fisicamente e psicologicamente. Na época, Connell é o rapaz popular da escola secundária e com quem toda a gente simpatiza, enquanto que, Marianne, é solitária, não tem amigos nem tão pouco familiares com quem possa conversar e acaba por passar grande parte do seu tempo a ler. E este passatempo, é incialmente, o que interliga a amizade com Connell mas, que evolui também para uma certa atração física.
Most people go through their whole lives, Marianne thought, without ever really feeling that close with anyone.
Portanto, se a primeira coisa em comum que os une é o amor aos livros, a segunda é o parecer entenderem-se bem com pequenas falhas de comunicação ao longo da história que vai causar um outro rumo ao que seria uma história de amor.
She gives him a little smile, like she feels she has won the argument. He likes to give her that feeling. For a moment it seems possible to keep both worlds, both versions of his life, and to move in between them just like moving through a door.
É verdade que têm as suas diferenças especialmente a nível social mas, ao pé um do outro sentem que podem ser autênticos e sem receio de ser ou estar.
If she was different with Connell, the difference was not happening inside herself, in her personhood, but in between them, in the dynamic.
O que mais gostei neste livro foi o facto de Sally Rooney me prender nesta história desde a primeira página. De repente, foi como se para viver o dia seguinte em paz precisasse de saber mais e mais.
But there it is: literature moves him.
Defintivamente, quero conhecer outros (senão para dizer que todos) os trabalhos da autora. Não obstante, estas duas personagens não vão ser esquecidas facilmente.
